Mike Davenport, PhD
J. Michael Davenport, Ph.D, is a distinguished pharmaceutical professional with more than 30 years of diverse clinical, preclinical, drug research and development, and device manufacturing experience for both small and large pharmaceutical companies. This includes roles at AccuVanceKinetics, OrphoMed, Furiex Pharmaceuticals, Pharmaceutical Product Development (PPD). While at PPD and Furiex, Mike was the Clinical Pharmacology lead for multiple drugs, including Nesina®, Priligy®, and Viberzi®. For the past 25 years, Mike has gathered extensive experience in the pharmacokinetic aspects of drug development. Prior to forming AccuVanceKinetics, Mike was the Executive Director of Clinical Pharmacology and Biostatistics at Furiex areas of responsibility included clinical pharmacology, biostatistics, data management, bioanalytical and central laboratories. He was senior director of clinical pharmacology at PPD. In addition to managing the operational activities of the clinical pharmacology department, he provided development strategies to PPD clients (including protocol design and analytical strategies) as well as pharmacokinetic support in interpretation of the relevance and significance of pharmacokinetic observations, data and parameters. In his role, he also handled Phase I clinical pharmacology reports and consulting services for drug development programs, and statistical design and analysis of experiments for IND, ANDA and NDA submissions, along with multiple other tasks. Dr. Davenport earned a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Arkansas and a doctorate in Biostatistics from the Virginia Commonwealth University.
